Buoy Don’t Float

Yea, so like my last post hinted at, my financial situation hasn’t been great. Luckily, I’m back in the positive for now. At least until end of the month when rent is due. But why get stressed over something in advance anyway, right?

I had a dream last night. I can’t remember the last time I had a dream and remembered segments of it. Before I tell you my memories, let me warn you that its more random than significant, which isn’t really what I hoped for considering I don’t dream very often.

It was a Heroes dream. I was someone with super strength and I was in a liquor store with a female friend, also with super strength. A guy in the store had the ability to move through walls and he started attacking me in one of the aisles. Being the powerful but always disappointing Peter-Petrelli of a character, I got knocked unconscious right before my friend had ran away with the attacker in hot pursuit. When I awoke, I saw an asian man with a variant power of moving through walls. His power was being able to make things penetrate skin. Well, confusing at it is, I wake up to find him throwing a chocolate bar into some guys throat where it got lodged. The innocent guy died shortly after. The End.

Ok, I’m going to change topic abruptly because that dream sequence was a lot more awkward written out than I thought it would be.

So lately I’ve been doing summer school and sort of attempting two jobs that aren’t really jobs. Summer school is going well consider I’m retaking a class I failed. Although don’t know if I’m ready for the MT tomorrow. I know the stuff too well that I am too lazy to study. It’s because I learned the stuff last semester and I guess I just failed because I didn’t care to do HW or projects. I just assumed I would do good on the final so that I can get an A. Apparently, I did horrible on the final.

As for job 1, it is working for brainfall.com. I’ve been working on it more than full-time. Probably close to 60 hours a week. I currently own 14% of the company, which equates to about $3K at the moment. If I calculate it out, I’m making about $50/day, which isn’t really worth it. However, I’m getting some experience by learning PHP, MySQL, and other stuff that I’m hoping will allow me to replicate the experience, this time with more equity. On top of all that, I haven’t seen a single dime from the profits yet. I’m a CFO without access to the bank account, so it’s pretty lame. I’m interviewing 3-4 potential writers tomorrow to write quizzes and just be part of the company. It’ll be interesting to see how that turns out.

Job 2 isn’t a job. A guy I externed with in the winter and have been exchanging correspondence since asked me to come by and chat. He is trying to get me to help his startup and I do want to help. However, I don’t have any of the hard skills needed. Yet, he seems so optimistic. I recommend things I can do and I hint on my interest in working for him as long as he gives me something to work on. The result? I’m usually sent away with another chat scheduled and encouraging words to think of something to do to share in the revenue, if it ever comes. Yeah, so no clue on what to do with this one. The guy’s startup is datapool ESP. It’s kind of like sharepoint but better. Anyway, he has a really cool product but I want to tell him them he is marketing to the wrong people. He is trying to attract small-medium businesses but his startup has no buzz around it or I just assume they aren’t reacting. He wants customers to pay monthly payments. I think it should be free or there should at least be a trial. Get reviewed, etc. Well, after this MT I’ll see if I want to help him or not.

I’ll get more in depth with things tomorrow since I had to recap so much today.
